The Challenge
A large agricultural operation relied on fragmented, inconsistent field reporting across geographically distributed farms. Teams had no standardised workflow for reporting incidents, attaching evidence, tracking SLA compliance or validating corrective actions, and management had no real-time view of resolution performance.
No standard workflow across distributed farms.
Reporting impossible where connectivity was absent.
Resolution performance invisible to management.
No audit path from incident to validation.
Approach & Solution
smartData architected a cloud-ready field incident management ecosystem on the MERN stack with React Native at the front. Mobile-first reporting captures GPS location, multimedia evidence and voice-to-text transcription, with offline synchronisation so that incidents are logged in the field where they happen rather than hours later when a signal finally returns.
Workflow orchestration runs through role-based stages — classification, resolution, escalation, validation and reopening — with farm and plot-level permission inheritance enforced at the API. A configurable SLA engine applies priority-based deadlines with escalation tracking and real-time alerts.
Key Features
Incidents queued locally and synchronised later.
Field notes captured by speaking, not typing.
Access inherited at farm and plot level.
Priority-based deadlines with escalation tracking.

Final Outcome
Incidents are reported where they occur regardless of signal, every one carries GPS-linked evidence and an immutable audit trail, and management sees SLA performance, overdue cases and escalation patterns across farms as they happen.
